Prescribing advanced nurse practitioner/practice partner

Sr Georgina Lopes, female

RGN, MSc

Sr Georgina Lopes qualified as an RGN with the University College of St.Martins, Carlisle in 1999. Her initial clinical experience was working within acute medicine, coronary care and accident and emergency before moving into primary care in 2002 where she has now worked for the last 17 years. She completed her MSc in Advanced Practice from Edge Hill University in December 2017 and now working at the Bethany MC as an advanced nurse practitioner. Georgina has a wealth of experience in the management of both acute and chronic conditions with advanced qualifications in clinical examination, diagnostics and registered as an independent non medical prescriber.

Georgina became a partner at the practice on 1st September 2021.

Mrs Vanessa Manchester

GN (Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, 1987)

Vanessa started her practice nursing career in 1991 and joined us at Bethany Medical Centre in September 2022. Vanessa delivers our respiratory care leading on COPD as well as asthma, immunisation and travel health, cytology and health promotion.

General practice assistant

Kim Smallwood

Kim is a valued member of the clinical team. She joined the practice in 2021after a 4 year career as a HCA in Whiston Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department. She had extensive training in 2022 to become a GPA.

General Practice Assistants (GPAs) form part of a multi-disciplinary team within primary care, and provide a support role, carrying out administrative tasks, combined in some areas with basic clinical duties, helping to free up GPs time and contribute to the smooth running of appointments, improving patients experience in the surgery.
